Kia Picanto three-door arrives in Europe
ASRE KHODRO: A three-door version of the Kia Picanto will soon hit the streets of Europe, the Korean automaker announced today. Set to go on sale at the beginning of next month, the Kia Picanto three-door will add a sportier style to Kia’s minicar lineup.
Kia says that the three-door variant is also less thirsty than its five-door sibling, although dimensions of the two cars are essentially identical in order to preserve roominess and crashworthiness. From the outside, the three-door will be distinguishable by its unique front fascia with a larger grille opening and either red or silver surround trim. Viewed from the side, the three-door obviously loses two of its sibling’s doors, while higher specification models get their own alloy wheel designs.

Three Picanto trim grades will be available – 1, Halo and Equinox. All models include ABS and stability control, while Halo models add such value-added goodies as alloy wheels, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, reverse parking sensors, Bluetooth and LED running lamps. Equinox models top the range with 15-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control and a smart key with an ignition button.

A three-cylinder 1.0-liter 68-horsepower gas engine will be standard, although petrol-minded buyers can option up to a 1.25-liter four-cylinder with 84 horsepower. The larger powertrain will include start/stop with a manual transmission for up to 65.7 mpg U.K. combined (around 54.7 mpg U.S.).

Pricing starts at £7,795 in the U.K.
